Training
A major activity of HCM RIPA is to conduct the foundation training of officials recruited to various state services such as the Rajasthan Administrative Service, the Rajasthan Police Service, the Rajasthan Accounts Service, the Rajasthan Rural Development Service and other State services. The foundation courses for Subordinate Services are also coordinated by HCM RIPA. It also organizes institutional-professional training for officers of the Indian Administrative Service of Rajasthan cadre as well as specialized trainings for other cadres such as DANICS, North-East and customized courses for ministries and departments of Government of India including courses for civil servants from foreign countries. Besides, in-service training programmes both specific object-oriented and target group-oriented, are being conducted in the Institute for officers working in various state/central government departments/undertakings. A large number of short in-service training courses are conducted at RIPA round the year.

State/national/international level seminars, workshops and conferences, on the themes relevant to and influencing state policies, programmes and implementation thereof, are also held from time to time. The Institute also organizes national and state level training of trainers courses like DTS, DoT, TNA, EoT, MoT, Mentoring and Facilitation Skills sponsored by the Training Division, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India as part of its Trainer Development Programmes. Moreover, the Institute is collaborating training activities in association with the Ministries of Commerce and Industries, Finance, Women and Child Development and Home Affairs, Government of India.

Publications
In order to develop the training material which enables directive learning the HCM RIPA prepares and publishes background papers, occasional papers, case studies and training monographs. These publications cover a wide range of pertinent themes and sub-themes. RIPA's journal-Prashasnika, which enjoys a good circulation in and outside the country, has entered in its fifth decade of publication.

Research and Consultancy
The HCM RIPA undertakes various research and evaluation studies to generate new concepts and to introduce effective improvements in public policies and programmes. It has, to its credit more than 50 publications based on its own research especially case studies, training monographs and experience sharing booklets written by senior civil servants. Many national and international, institutions and agencies, have been supporting HCM RIPA in this endeavor.

Departmental Examinations
Being the apex training institution of the state government, RIPA undertakes the responsibility of coordinating departmental training activities and developing linkages among various departmental training institutions. HCM RIPA conducts departmental examinations for the officers of various state services in Rajasthan.

Special Lectures
For the benefit of administrators, faculty and the general public, RIPA organizes interactions with eminent persons from all walks of life on the issues of topical interest. In order to commemorate the memory of the late Shri Harish Chandra Mathur, after whom the Institute has been named, RIPA periodically organizes a memorial lecture in which a celebrated personality is invited to address the distinguished audience. RIPA also organizes special lectures series on a monthly basis.
